ATAECINA, AN ANALYSIS OF THE CONTINUITY OF LOCAL OR INDIGENOUS CULTS IN THE ROMAN SPAIN

RESUMEN
El presente artículo tiene como objetivo el estudio de las continuidades religiosas locales de la península ibérica en época romana tomando como referencia el culto de la diosa Ataecina. Con su análisis y el de sus fieles tendremos ocasión de observar el surgimiento a inicios del Imperio de una sociedad y una religiosidad híbridas, fruto del contacto colonial entre Roma y los pueblos peninsulares, en las que los elementos de las culturas locales y foráneas se fusionaron y coexistieron. dando como resultado una nueva realidad local.
ABSTRACT
This paper tackles the analysis of the religious continuities of the Iberian Peninsula during the Roman period taking as a reference the cult of the goddess Ataecina. Analysing
the cult and its faithful, we will observe the creation of a hybrid society and religiosity as a result of the colonial contact between Rome and the Iberian people, in which the elements
of the local and foreign cultures merged and coexisted, giving as a result a new local reality.
