THE HERMITAGE OF SAN AMBROSIO (BARBATE, CÁDIZ): A CHURCH BUILT IN THE CENTURY VII?

RESUMEN
En el presente artículo se analiza la ermita de San Ambrosio (Barbate, Cádiz), considerada por la historiografía como un edificio de fundación visigoda. Para ello, se ha realizado un análisis paramental que permita fijar una cronología relativa de los distintos aparejos. Por consiguiente, existen pocas evidencias arquitectónicas para sostener que la construcción del edificio fue durante el siglo VII, interpretación sugerida por el hallazgo de una inscripción procedente de este lugar.
ABSTRACT
In this article we shall analyze the hermitage of Saint Ambrosio (Barbate, Cádiz), which is perceived by historiography as a building foundation of the Visigoths. We have conducted a paramental review that allows fixing the relative chronology of the different bonds. In conclusion, there is little evidence to support the architectural construction of the building during the seventh century, as suggested by the discovery of an inscription from this place
